PN meets with EUROMIL

On 15 March 2011, Angelika Beer, Chair of the Parliamentarians Network for Conflict Prevention, and Matthew T. King, Associate, Preventive Diplomacy Initiatives of the EastWest Institute, met with EUROMIL’s Secretary General, Gerhard Ahlbrecht, on EUROMILs premises. They explored how to bring to bear the expertise the military, and in particular military associations, have gained in the field of conflict prevention.

The visit was a follow-up meeting to a first encounter on the premises of EWI in Brussels on January 20, 2011 during which EUROMIL’s Vice President, Bernhard Gertz, and Secretary General discussed with Ambassador Günter Overfeld, EWI Vice President and Director of Regional Security, and Angelika Beer, possibilities for co-operation before presenting EUROMIL in a Questions & Answers Session to EWI’s team.

EUROMIL promotes the social and professional interests of military personnel of all ranks in Europe. It is the primary Europe-wide forum for co-operation among professional military associations on issues of common concern and is the umbrella organisation of 39 national military associations and trade unions.
