Keith Taylor MEP

Mr. Taylor is a Member of the European Parliament, representing the South East of England region. He sits on the Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN), the Committee on International Trade (INTA) and the Committee on Petitions (PETI). He is a full member of the Parliamentary delegation to Afghanistan, and in March 2011, he co-hosted an event on 'Afghan Perspectives on Civil Transition.' Mr. Taylor is also a substitute member of the Iran and Palestine delegations. He is the Vice President of the UK’s Local Government Association Group in the European Parliament – and a member of the Intergroup on LGBT Rights.

Mr. Howitt is a Labour Member of the European Parliament for the East of England. He is Vice Chair of the Human Rights Sub Committee, a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Human Rights, Common Security and Defence Policy and is the Labour European Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs. Richard is also a member of the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee, and was recently a member of the Parliament mission to the UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva, and to monitor the Palestinian Presidential elections.

Ms. Angela Smith MP

At the 2005 general election Ms. Smith won the Sheffield Hillsborough parliamentary seat. From 2005 until 2008 she was the Parliamentary Private Secretary to Yvette Cooper at the Department of Communities and Local Government and Treasury. In 2009 she joined the select committee for Transport.

Mr. Streeter has been the elected Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton since 1992. He was the Shadow Secretary of State for International Development from 1998 to 2001, Vice-Chairman of the Conservative Party from 2001-2002, Shadow Minister in the International Affairs Department from 2003-2004, and Chairman of the Conservative Party International Office from 2005-2008. In April 2009, Mr. Streeter joined the Chairman's panel, chairing the weekly committees and debates that take place in the House of Commons when the House is sitting.

Dr. Phyllis Starkey MP

Before entering Parliament, Dr Starkey had a double career as a distinguished research scientist and as a politician in both local and national politics. Dr Starkey qualified as a biochemist and followed a career in medical research, leading her own research group in Oxford. She won a seat on Oxford City Council, was Chair of Finance for six years, and Council leader for three. From 1993-19977, she was the National Chair of the Local Government Information Unit, which represents over 120 Councils across the country.

Rt Revd Stephen Platten, The Bishop of Wakefield

Rt Revd Stephen Platten presides over and cares for the Diocese of Wakefield. He is the 12th Bishop of Wakefield and began this ministry on 19 July 2003. He was educated at the Stationers, Company’s School, and thereafter at the Universities of London and Oxford. At the University of London (Trent Park College of Education and the University of London Institute of Education) he took a B.Ed.

Mr. Kelvin Hopkins, MP

Mr. Hopkins was born in Leicester, the son of Professor Harold Hopkins FRS. He studied at the University of Nottingham, where he was awarded a BA degree in Politics, Economics and Mathematics with Statistics. With the exception of two years as a lecturer at the St Albans FE College (now called Oaklands College) from 1971 he has worked entirely within the trade union movement. Kelvin was elected to the House of Commons at the 1997 General Election for Luton North and has remained the MP there since.

John Tucker Mugabi Sentamu was born in the Uganda’s Buffalo clan on the 10th June 1949. Following his ordination in 1979 he served as Assistant Chaplain at Selwyn College, Cambridge. From 1979-1982 he was Chaplain at HM Remand Centre Latchmere House and Curate of St Andrew's, Ham in the Diocese of Southwark. From 1982-1983 he was Curate of St Paul's Church, Herne Hill, in South London and from 1983-1984 Priest-in-Charge at Holy Trinity, Tulse Hill and Parish Priest of St Matthias Upper Tulse Hill.

Mr. Derek Wyatt MP

Mr. Wyatt was first elected to the House of Commons for the new constituency of Sittingbourne and Sheppey in north Kent in May 1997. Previously, Mr. Wyatt has been a Labour borough councillor for Archway in the borough of Haringey in north London. He was re-elected in June 2001 and again in May 2005.
