Jack McConnell has been the Member of the Scottish Parliament for Motherwell and Wishaw since 1999. He was First Minister of Scotland from 2001 to 2007, having earlier served as Scottish Minister for Finance from 1999 to 2000, and Minister for Education, Europe and External Affairs from 2000 to 2001.
