Mr. Knut Fleckenstein MEP

Mr. Fleckenstein was born in Bad Nauheim, Germany in 1953, and he is presently the Chairman of the Delegation to the EU-Russia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in the European Parliament. In his capacity as a Member of European Parliament, he is also a member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism, and of the Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.

Mr. Pflug is a German politician and has been a member of the Bundestag since 1998. Mr. Pflug currently serves on the the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the SPD parliamentary group’s subcommittee on disarmament, arms control and non-proliferation.

He joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) in 1965. He has been a member of the party federal council since 1996 and a member of the party executive’s Commission on International Policy since 2003.

As a member of the defence committee and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly he was engaged in the building of institutions and structures for conflict prevention. He is a member of advisory board of the German Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defence as well as the board of directors of the United Nations Association of Germany.

Born in 1963 in Pfullendorf, Mr. Kiesewetter studied economics in Munich and Austin, Texas, and underwent general staff officers’ training at the Bundeswehr Command and Staff College from 1995 to 1997. His professional career has involved various command and staff positions, including at the EU Council in Brussels, NATO HQ in Brussels and Mons, the German Federal Ministry of Defence, the position of battalion commander, and several operations abroad.
