Ms. Rangina Kargar MP

Ms. Rangina Kargar is represents the people of the Faryab province in the Wolesi Jirga (Lower House) in Afghanistan. She has a long and impressive background as an advocate for women’s rights. Ms. Kargar participated in numerous public awareness programs, focused specifically for rural women and combating violence against women, and in 2009, she lived in Andkhoy and worked as literacy teacher for rural women.

She completed her education in Finance in the Economics College of Balkh University in 2007. During her time at Balkh University, Ms. Kargar assembled women’s groups while simultaneously in charge of finance at Noor Private School, where she taught English.

Mrs. Kargar is married with one son, and speaks Dari, English, Uzbek and a little Pashtu.

Ms. Breshna Rabi MP

Brishna Rabi is currently a member of the Religious, Cultural and Higher Education Commission of Wolesi Jirga. Her successful 2010 parliamentary election campaign in Balkh Province was focused on women’s rights.

Before becoming a parliamentarian, Ms. Rabi served in the Directorate of Education, Balkh province as Director of Fatima Balkhi High School, for 25 years. She has received thirty-five degrees and certificates for her admirable work in cultural, religious and educational affairs. Further, she was awarded the Malalai Medal by the President of the Republic.

Ms. Samia Azizi Sadat MP

Ms. Samia Azizi Sadat represents the Parwan Province in the National Assembly of Afghanistan. She was born in Charikar district of Parwan province, Afghanistan. Upon completing her higher education in the Faculty of Science at the University of Kabul, she received a Masters in Economics in 2008.  After working as a math teacher at Hura Jalali High School, Ms. Azizi Sadat was promoted to Director of Education of Parwan province by the orders of the President of the Republic.

Mr. Obaidullah Rameen MP

Mr. Obaidullah Rameen has represented the Baghlan Province in Wolesi Jirga (House of Representatives), National Assembly of Afghanistan since 2010. He completed his higher education in Agricultural Economic Development, later adding a specialization in Agricultural Banking. Prior to his political career, he worked in agriculture and banking, and became the first elected president of the Chamber of Commerce of Afghanistan. He later served as the Minister for Agriculture for three years and after establishing the Import and Export Association of Afghanistan, he was elected its first President. 

Mr. Rameen is married and has four children.

Ms. Farkhunda Zahra Naderi MP

In the 2010 Afghan parliamentary elections, Ms. Naderi was elected as the Kabul representative in Afghanistan National Assembly, with the support of National Unity Party of Afghanistan (NUPA).

Ms. Naderi joined the National Unity Party of Afghanistan (NUPA) Hzbi Paiwandi Millie, in order to encourage women’s participation in politics and to cooperate with youths. In 2007, the Central Council of the party appointed Ms. Naderi as the Head of Women’s Committee & Youth Association. From that time, Ms. Naderi succeeded in developing: the organizational structure for Economical, Cultural, Disciplinary and Sport Committees; weekly publication of a youth association; an educational centre and scholarship programme for youth in higher education; and sports and music teams.

Ms. Razia Sadat Mangal MP

Ms. Sadat Mangal is member of the Wolesi Jirga representing Paktiya province. She is also the President of the first women-owned construction company in Afghanistan.

In 2000, Razia joined D.O.R.A (Development Organization for the Revival of Afghanistan), and subsequently became the Director from 2004 until to today. Under her supervision, D.O.R.A successfully completed 140 different projects - most of them were in the Southern region of Afghanistan which has shown that women can work alongside men.
 

Ms. Elay Ershad, MP

Prior to becoming a parliamentarian, Ms. Ershad worked as the Gender Advisor and Executive Assistant to the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Education in Afghanistan. She has also worked in the legal arena, as a Legal Assistant for Moscovitch Advocate Holland, and as an Assistant Lecturer in the Faculty of Law and Political Science of Kabul University.

Ms. Ershad holds a Bachelors Degree from the Faculty of Law and Political Science in the Department of Diplomacy from the Kabul University. She is fluent in Pashto, Dari, English, and Dutch.

Ms. Golalei Nur Safi MP

Ms. Golalei Nur Safi is a fervent women rights activist who has been a member of the Afghan Parliament since 2005. She represents the Balkh province in the north of Afghanistan in the Wolesi Jirga and is a member of High Peace Council.

Dr. Mohammad Saleh Saljuqi

Dr. Saljuqi graduated from the Faculty of Medicine from Herat University in 1999 and continued on at this institution as a medical professor from 2000 until 2004. Since then, he has served as the Deputy Secretary of the Wolesi Jirga in the National Assembly of Afghanistan.

Ms. Shahgul Rezaie

Shahgul Rezaie was born in 1979. She studied Law and Political Science at the University of Kabul. Before she became active in politics, Ms. Rezaie was a teacher and the principle in Zainabia Girl High School, in Jaghori, Ghazni. In 2005, she was elected to represent Ghazni Province in National Assembly of Afghanistan, the lower house of its National Legislature.
